History
Liteco a wholesale electrical distributor began in 1976, opening in Fredericton New Brunswick , under the name of Lite Enterprises Ltd. Today the Fredericton branch is home to the head office, for a network of branch operations throughout the Maritime Provinces . Liteco takes great pride in being a locally owned Maritime company, and with thirteen branches is the largest independently owned electrical distributor in the Maritimes.
1980 - Liteco opened its second branch operation in Saint John N.B. The Saint John branch services electrical contractors, industry and the Tel-com markets.
1985 - Liteco opened in Sussex N.B. The branch services the local potash mines, as well as electrical contractors and industries.
1986 - Liteco opened the Moncton branch. The Moncton branch services the electrical contractor and industrial markets, covering an area from Northern New Brunswick to Northern Nova Scotia .
1991 - Liteco opened a new division called Litetec. Litetec specializes in automation and control products. Litetec, located in Fredericton , designs and fabricates control products supplying contractors and industry throughout the Maritimes, as well as the export market.
1993 - Liteco joined Affiliated Distributors (know in the industry as A-D). Members of A-D are part of the largest group of independently owned electrical distributors in North America . Together the A-D distributors represent over 18 billion dollars in annual sales. As a member of A-D, Liteco is able to compete with the largest national distributor chains.
1997 - Liteco opened in Charlottetown PEI, our first branch operation outside of New Brunswick . Again the company reputation for providing good quality customer service has enabled this branch to grow and service the PEI market.
February 2000 - Liteco took a major step forward by acquiring Wyeco Supply Inc. Wyeco had been in business since 1979 serving the Nova Scotia market. Wyeco has six branch locations: Kentville, Yarmouth, Bridgewater, Truro , Lr. Sackville, and New Glasgow. Like Liteco, Wyeco was a member of Affiliated Distributors. Together the two companies were a natural fit as they covered different market areas but shared the same vendors.
January 2001 - Liteco moved the Lr. Sackville location to a newer more central location in the Burnside Industrial Park . This has enabled the company to promote business with larger electrical contractors and also participate in the growing offshore oil and gas market.
October 2005 - Liteco moved the New Glasgow branch to a newer more modern facility in the Port Hawkesbury Industrial Park . This has enabled the branch to develop new business with industry and electrical contractors.
August 2002 - Liteco opened it's branch in Halifax . This branch gives Liteco coverage on both sides of the harbor in the Halifax metro area.
April 2007- Liteco opened it's thirteenth branch in Dieppe, NB. , This branch was opened to better serve our Moncton and Dieppe customers in a fast growing city.
Today all thirteenth branches operate under the Liteco name. With thirteen branch locations and our two divisions, Litetec and Liteco Industrial, Liteco employs over 100 people in the Maritime Provinces.
